I wasn’t sure if this day would ever arrive.  FINALLY the panda at

the end of the rainbow!!!  Here is the  beautiful adoption certificate

to prove it!

Here is Bing Bing the

22  year old mother of

my baby “Jewel”

or “Bao Shi” as she

is called in Mandarin

Chinese.

Diana and I both had

the opportunity to

hand feed the pandas

some apples slices

and a cart full of

bamboo!

Little “Jewel” was a

big handful.  This is

the very first time that

she has been touched

by anyone other than

her personal keeper.


She was very curious

about sniffing our faces

As we requested, we

were immediately put

to work volunteering

at the panda base doing

the daily chores


We  raked bamboo, and

poo, and replenished

the wilted bamboo with

freshly washed stalks

Here we are “planting bamboo

in premade holes in the

ground...inside pipes

We were presented with

a wonderful bag of

panda base goodies!!!

Here I am with the

director of the Panda Base

who was presenting me

with the adoption certificate.


I was crying and he was

laughing at me.  It was

such a special moment

Here is Bing Bing..Jewel’s

mother having her early

morning snack

We were thrilled that they

let Diana hold Jewel as well.
