FORGED IN ICE NECKLACE After sculpting this pudgy little chow face, I add layer upon layer of real copper until I get a thick coating which will accept the patina later on. After firing, I hand apply the acids and chemicals to accelerate the aging process of the metal , then seal the design to keep it just as it is forever! On this particular chow I got some incredible blue and green tones on the copper which looks as though it might have been unearthed from an archeological dig in China…maybe worn by an Emperor who loved chows….and with a sense of STYLE!!! Each time I do this I never know what I will get and many times need to add or subtract the patina by buffing to adjust the aged look. It's quite the process and a real challenge which I love. This is a smaller necklace with a lot of character!!! I added a crazy firey domed Swarovski cabochon which is off of an Estate Sale find from the 1920's. The photo in the hand shows well the scale and electricity in this highly faceted stone. It is total fire and ice in it's coloration. The remainder of the cabochons are raspberry toned paua shell which have a very iridescent glow My METAL VENEER technique so time consuming but sooooo worth the effort put into them. This is one gorgeous charm bracelet, created in the "Pandora" style, where the charms can be removed or added to by unscrewing one end of the bracelet!! I started with a silver and copper toned chow charm which I handsculpted and also created a custom bail for the chain to pass through. The copper tone antiqued chain is piled high with charms, stainless rings and beads including riveted lucite, , vintage amber lucite discs, glass rings, handmade dichroic glass rounds and glass crystals. Arrange em any way you like!!! IVORY ORCHID NECKLACE IVORY ORCHID is one of two similar pieces I created for this 2012 Trunk Show in my Faux Ivory cameo technique! The rich brown background you see framing the chow is vintage fine hardwood with a high polish. I then handsculpted a "cameo" relief design of sorts using sewing and knitting needles as my sculpting tools using my hand blended faux ivory clay. After firing , the entire pendant was covered in black paint (always a "cringe" moment )and baked on , followed by hours of sanding and buffing off the paint to reveal the exquisite details of the sculpting. It looks for all the world like carved ivory or bone. These designs are so light you hardly know you are wearing them, and are so versatile as the colors are very neutral. PENDANT MEASURES 2 x 2" Rolled French leather cord is finished at the back with chain with lobster clasp, and adjusts from 18-21" long.
