JADE DRAGONS-CLICK HERE TO VIEW VIDEO DESCRIPTION IN A NEW WINDOW Exquisite hinged cuff bracelet in Faux Jade I created JADE DRAGONS to commemorate Chinese New Year 2012-Year of the Dragon!!! Ever since my 2011 Trunk Show I have received dozens of requests to repeat the elaborate cuff bracelet I made. I finally found a few of the same high end hinged cuffs and am pleased to offer 3 different designs at this 2012 Show The foundation for the bracelet as I mentioned is a sturdy, slightly oval shaped hinged cuff which stays very securely closed with pressure from the spring hinge on one side. The finish is a richly textured dark gunmetal grey. The oval shape stays in place without flipping on the wrist much better than a round cuff. To this exquisite blank "canvas" I added THREE handsculpted and carved polymer clay Chow nestled in an Oriental Rock Garden in the softly conceived recess of the bracelet . The scene completely surrounds the entire surface of the bracelet!! 2 highly detailed dragons weave their way in and out of the garden, greeting the chows with their undulating Dragon Dance. A little pagoda is on one side and weeping cherry trees arc behind the foreground design. Real freshwater pearls from my Vietnam trip, in an antiqued gold tone stud both sides of the bracelet!!! The FAUX JADE I create from polymer clay which was painstakingly layered, thinly sliced and layered again and again to bring out the perfect stonelike striations and translucent quality of this precious stone!!! After firing , the entire pendant was covered in black paint (always a "cringe" moment ) and baked on , followed by hours of sanding and buffing off the paint to reveal the exquisite details of the sculpting beneath. It looks for all the world like carved jade without the weight or high price tag of the real deal!! I finally found a few of the same high end hinged cuffs and am pleased to offer 3 different designs at this 2012 Show The foundation for the bracelet as I mentioned is a sturdy, slightly oval shaped hinged cuff which stays very securely closed with pressure from the spring hinge on one side. The finish is a highly polished silver tone open design with embedded crystals. The oval shape stays in place without flipping on the wrist much better than a round cuff. To this exquisite blank "canvas" I added a gorgeous chow headstudy (her name is "Sparkle"), handsculpted and carved in polymer clay. The entire head was sculpted and detailed with the tip of a needle and knitting needles. The pearlized silver was added in multiples layers to give a lot of depth and richness to the surface, then once fired, I added a subtle black patina to the recesses to make the details really pop!! Multiple coats of waterproof sealer are added for extra protection. Now comes the bling!! I purchased a drawer FULL of a tiara factory (1920's) bits and pieces back in the 90's and had a blast combing that Drawer O Glitz, to find the perfect Tiara parts for this perfect chow!! Below her chin I applied crystals that are alive with icy glimmer and also put a single large Swarovski on her forehead like an Indian 'bindi"….Sparkle loved that part the best!!! Half pearl cabochons were removed from one of the vintage Tiaras and applied to the entire front of the bracelet as well. This is one of those designs that will stop traffic and goes with everything!! Besides the obvious dressy look, couldn't you just see this with jeans, a black shirt and a pair of glitzy earrings….and stripy black sandals or sexy boots? VICTORIA- Gunmetal finished toggle clasp bracelet This bracelet is so pretty and fits so comfortably with an easy close toggle clasp at the back. I sculpted VICTORIA in white polymer clay, then blushed on layers of my Watercolor techinique washes to build up the color and form. Leaves surround her in the rock garden with two large beads I hand made and fired onto the bracelet to keep the front design in place on the wrist. This does not roll around easily which was by design. The chow should stay at the top of your wrist for all to see. The awesome snake chain she is on is rigid and about 1/4" wide! Bracelet design is hard because every element is in such a small space. To get what you want to be the "star" of the piece you need to do a lot of advanced planning.
